Within Maple, Mr. Stauffer serves as the Chief Legal Office and Vice President for the Maple Life Companies. He is responsible for the oversight of the legal, compliance and due diligence teams. During his time at Maple, he has overseen the evaluation of thousands of policies with an aggregate face value of over $20 billion, for some of the world’s largest banks and global investment funds.
Mr. Stauffer, is an experienced and seasoned attorney with an extensive background in the corporate, litigation, insurance, regulatory and asset evaluation fields. Throughout his career, Mr. Stauffer has advised clients on a broad spectrum of legal issues, including advising some of the world’s largest corporations on industry leading mergers and acquisitions, billon dollar finance deals, precedent setting litigations, and the business of insurance and insurance related products, including life settlements. He has represented and worked with Fortune 500 companies, insurers, regulators, financial institutions, and other entities regarding all elements of transactional and corporate law, litigation, finance, and the insurance space, including the restructuring, sale, and purchasing of distressed and economically challenged entities and assets, and the valuation and transfer of risk assets and portfolios. He has helped lead some of the largest due diligence and asset evaluation projects, including acting as one of the lead attorneys on the diligence, regulatory and asset evaluation side of the SBC-AT&T and AT&T-BellSouth/Cingular mergers.
Prior to joining Maple, Mr. Stauffer was a senior attorney at the international law firms of DLA Piper, Mayer Brown and Crowell & Moring. Mr. Stauffer is a graduate of the George Washington University Law School, where he graduated with honors, was an editor on the law review, and an elected member of the Mock Trial and Moot Court boards.
